Just recently I stumbled upon It Cosmetics
line that offers special makeup kits that help to sex you up in a matter of minutes. With the vacation season approaching, looking good in that bikini becomes one of the burning issues. So what if you could get a smoking hot body in minutes instead of spending sweaty hours training and exercising. Folks at It Cosmetics promise that you can!

Start by sculpting, shaping and highlighting your legs with Contour and Highlighting Palette to get those “Smokin’ Hot Legs”. No time for sit-ups, your tight six-pack abs come in a box!

Use Abs in a Box Contour and Highlighting Palette to draw abs of your dreams. Enhance your cleavage and give your bust a lift with My Beautiful Breasts Contour and Highlighting Palette. Vuala! You are ready!
Each kit costs $39.00 and has a manual with diagrams to ensure a successful makeover!

PS: Sounds great! But don’t forget it’s just makeup and even though It Cosmetics promises it’s water and sweat proof, nothing ensures you look great in a bikini like a healthy diet and exercise!

Beauty Review: Clarins Eclat Minute Instant Light Eye Perfecting Base

Promise:
Facilitates make-up application and promotes lasting wear

Packaging:
Comes in a convenient pen with a brush

Shade:
Clarins Eclat Minute is available in only one shade 00 which is very light pink with beige undertones

Application:
You can apply Clarins Instant Light Eye Perfecting Base on the eye lid using the brush it comes with. Very convenient to get close to eye lashes or reach the eye corner. You can also just use your finger.

Stay-on Power:
Stays on long and is crease resistant!

Cover Power:
Excellent! It just lights up the eye area.

Texture:
Very similar to liquid foundation but a bit thicker. Not oily and not slippery

Experience:
This is my first experience with an eye perfecting product or an eye shadow base. I used liquid foundation to even the tone on my eye lids before… At times I wouldn’t use anything at all, but now I’m converted. How on Earth could I have lived without an eye shadow base? Anyone explain to me!

Initially I planned to buy Guerlain Eye Shadow Base from spring makeup collection 2009 but they didn’t have it available here. So without much prior research I just went for Clarins Instant Light Eye Perfecting Base. It did not disappoint me but I may sound a bit too critical since it’s my first experience and I don’t have much to compare to.

Starting off with big pluses, Clarins Instant Light Eye Perfecting Base has nice not oily texture and it does not irritate my quite sensitive eyes!

I apply Clarins Instant Light Eye Perfecting Base on the eye lid using the brush it comes with. It’s very convenient to get close to eye lashes or into the eye corner. Then tapping with my finger I blend it all over the eye lid. It is a bit thicker than liquid foundation, so I’m always careful not to tag at the tender eye skin. I actually like the way it applies evenly all over the lid and it doesn’t take too much effort to spread it and blend it into the skin.

I think it's obvious which eye has Clarins base on it

I love how well Clarins Instant Light Eye Perfecting Base covers darkness of the skin on my eyelids and on the side of the nose at the inner eye corner. It makes not only my eye area light up but my whole face looks brighter and more awake. Very often I don’t even apply eye shadow over it. I just put on mascara, lip gloss and I’m ready to face the world! It creates a great canvass for eye shadow application. To see what difference this base can make I would experiment with applying it on one eye only and then applying eye shadow on both eye lids. I have to say that the colors and the whole look is so much better on the eye with the base!

You can also use Clarins Instant Light Eye Perfecting Base on under eye circles. But it’s a bit too thick for this so I prefer YSL Touche Eclat.

Now I’m going to be a bit picky… I’m not completely satisfied with the way it looks on the skin. It has this powdery finish to it. I wish it looked more smooth on the skin.

I have also tested Clarins Instant Light Eye Perfecting Base for the promised “promotion of lasting makeup wear” and am not sure how effective it is. As mentioned above, before applying eye shadow I would apply Clarins base only on one lid and, trying not to think of how ridiculous I looked, I spent the whole day like this. Late in the evening I would closely inspect the result in the mirror. I didn’t see any difference at all between the eye with the base and the eye without when I used Shiseido Hydro-Powder (excellent eye shadow!!!). I noticed only very slight difference in creasing in favor of Clarins Instant Light Eye Perfecting Base with a powder shadow by Estee Lauder.

Bottom Line:
I like Clarins Instant Light Eye Perfecting Base, I would recommend it but to form final opinion I need to try some other eye shadow base to be able to compare.

Beauty Buzz: New Sisley Perfume Eau de Sisley 1, 2 & 3

Sisley unlike many other brands rolling out new perfumes every year or even every other month, Sisley takes its own slow pace and releases a new fragrance every 10-15 years. I am under a strong impression that if Sisley launches something, it is genius and has taken years of development. In one of the interviews Hubert d'Ornano, founder/owner of the brand said "We launch when we have something special to launch. We don't launch for the sake of launching." Up till now Sisley have had only three perfumes. That's why I was very surprised to see Sisley recently come out not with one but with a trio of brand new perfumes.
Not much time was spent on creating names for the new perfumes called Eau de Sisley 1, 2 & 3. The reason for this as Sisley explains is that they want to give a chance to perfume owners to use imagination and creativity and name each fragrance from the new trio themselves.

Eau de Sisley 1- A sun kissed dress. Described as “joyful, romantic and tender”. Top notes: citrus, berries with a touch of spice (Tangerine, Grapefruit, pink Berries, Spice); heart notes: Jasmine, green Tea, Juniper Berries, base notes: Chypre from the Hesperides, Musk.

Eau de Sisley 2 - A white sundress dotted with green has luminous, lively and cheerful character. Top notes: Cardamon, Bergamot, Basil; heart notes: water lily, Jasmine, Cyclamen and Rose; base notes: Patchouli, Vetiver, Cedar and Sandalwood.

Eau de Sisley 3 - A seductive dress offering teasing, aloof and impulsive fragrance. Top notes: Bergamot, Tangerine, Grapefruit, and Tangy Lemon; hear notes: Ginger, Chinese Osmanthus flower, Peach and Apricot; base notes: Patchouli, Vetiver, Benjamin, Vanilla, and Musk

Polish sculptor Bronislaw Krzysztof designed the caps for Eau de Sisley 1, 2 & 3 bottles. He also created the caps for Sisley’s other perfumes - Eau du Soir and Soir de Lune.

Beauty Review: Mavala Cuticle Cream

Promise:
Softens the skin surrounding the nail providing a neat and cared for nail contour

What’s Inside:
Lanolin, Petrolatum, Water, Mineral Oil, Alcohol Denat, Metyhylparaben, Butylparaben, Chlorphenesin, Triclosan, Ethylparaben, Propylparaben, Fragrance, Linalool, Hydroxycitronellal, Citronellol, Hexyl Cinnamaldehyde, 2-Propionaldehyde, Coumarin, Geraniol etc.

As I can see it includes some emollients and occlusives like Lanolin, Petrolatum and Mineral Oil which will moisturize the cuticle and keep moisture locked in. Mavala Cuticle Cream also provides protection against bacteria and fungi with Chlorphenesin and Triclosan. In addition, there is a bunch of preservatives and fragrance ingredients.

Experience:
Texture: creamy, oily and very thick just like an ointment
Smell: smells like medicine but not bad
Absorption: Absorbs pretty fast

Modern tempo of life doesn’t always allow time to do regular manicures. Malava cuticle cream is a savior in such situations. You can also use this cream to make your manicure last longer. I personally found Malava cuticle cream very effective.
Malava Cream comes with a manicure stick and you are instructed to push back cuticles after applying and massaging in the cuticle cream. I don’t always use the stick and still it works its magic. I usually apply Malava cuticle cream just before going to bed. When used on long cuticle, I can see it pull way back already the next morning.

It’s a good product! If you keep to a regular routine of applying it every day you will have a good result!

Price Time:
Only 9-10$

Makeup Tip: Defining Eyebrows

Just came across an easy tip from Bobbi Brown for natural looking defined eyebrows.

Choose a shade matching your natural brow color. Brush your brows down, this way you will see the line to fill in. Fill in white spaces using selected color with a brow brush/pencil. Blend. Now just brush your brows upwards again and the correction line won’t be noticeable.

Check out these products for shaping and defining eyebrows.

I'm using Lancome Sourcils Design Superfine Automatic Brow Pencil. Like it alot! What's your favorite?

Beauty Fact: Red Enhances Men's Attraction To Women

Now we have one more reason to wear red lipstick. And this time it’s scientifically supported!

A study by two University of Rochester psychologists looked at a relationship between color and behavior. It was revealed that the color red makes men feel more attracted to women.

In the course of the study researchers analyzed men’s responses to photographs of women under a variety of color presentations. In one experiment, for example, men looked at women’s photos framed in red or white and answered various questions regarding woman’s appearance and attractiveness. In the final study, woman’s shirt in the picture was digitally colored red or blue. In this experiment, men were also asked about their intentions regarding dating. In all of the experiments, the women shown framed by or wearing red were rated significantly more attractive and sexually desirable by men than the exact same women shown with other colors. Amazing but men are completely unaware of the role the color plays in their attraction. Andrew Elliot, professor of psychology says, "It's fascinating to find that something as ubiquitous as color can be having an effect on our behavior without our awareness."

By the way, the “red effect” extends only to males and only to perceptions of attractiveness.

One more interesting fact. The authors of this study note that men's response to red may stem from deep biological roots. According to research male primates are noticed to be particularly attracted to females displaying red. Female baboons and chimpanzees, for example, redden when close to ovulation, sending a clear sexual message designed to attract males. This could mean that human males’ attraction to red has subconscious animal instincts to it.
Hmmm… so now what do you think about society’s infatuation with red? Red hearts at St.Valentine’s, red lipstick, Red Lights Districts and red lingerie? I bet, red will always be in fashion ;-)

Beauty Review: Shiseido Hydro-Powder Eye Shadow

Recently I’ve been drawn like a magnet to eye shadows! Hardly a week passed after buying Guerlain’s spring palette, I found myself at Shiseido’s counter checking out their Hydro-Powder Eye-Shadow. As I’ve mentioned, I had a bad (sticky and creasy) experience with a creamy eyeshadow previously so I was a bit worried about giving a cream shadow another chance … Here is my review…

Color:
Spring Plum

It’s warm light plum with tiniest green shimmery particles

Stay-on Power:
Amazingly long! And it’s crease-resistant - only after 8-9 hours I started seeing some creasing but the color still remained fresh.

Texture:
Thick mousse

Experience:
I love love love Hydro-Powder eye shadow! You can apply it with your finger but a brush will give you much more control and allow perfect accuracy. I’m using my Sigma concealer brush. Hydro-Powder slides on soooo smoothly, blends very easily and looks one with the skin. I was amazed how easily you can “move around” this shadow on the eyelid, add more color where you need it and blend out any harsh edges. I would never expect this from a cream shadow!
You can control the intensity of color and load on more of Hydro-Powder for a luminous more dramatic look. When you turn your head and the light hits the eye shadow, you get this beautiful sheen of light green. Oh, and you can also wear hydro-powder as an eyeliner!

Green-eyed gals, take a note of Spring Plum shade! It will bring out the beautiful green in your eyes.

Bottom Line:
I am looking forward to buying more colors of Shiseido’s Hydro-Powder Eye Shadow!

Beauty News: New Ingestible Ingredient Brings Relief to Sensitive Skin

With the launch of a new ingestible ingredient developed by P.L.Thomas, people suffering from skin irritation, itchy, flaky skin may expect release of a new supplement to resolve these skin problems from within.

The ingredient is a protein filtrate from sweet whey and will be available in an oral form to relieve mild-to-moderate skin irritations. This ingredient was tested in clinical trials on psoriasis patients and showed certain improvement in 31 to 38 percent of patients (which doesn’t strike me as a significant improvement rate).

P.L.Thomas’ head of cosmeceuticals Alda Brandao is sure demand for edible beauty is set to grow and her own motto is “cosmetics so natural you can eat them”.

In my opinion there is a definite need for a supplement that would relieve problems associated with sensitive skin. So I welcome this new development and hope for improvements in its effectiveness rate!
