Beauty Review: Givenchy Rouge Interdit Shine

I should have called this review a story about my first perfect red lipstick!

Packaging:
Beautiful, elegant and unusual. I am not sure what you’re supposed to do with the little hook at the end… maybe just pull on it… but if you were wondering, I don’t think you can use it as a key chain :-)

Shade:
# 10 – Sun Shine (red with light orange undertones and golden shimmer)

Scent:
Light sweet

Stay-on Power:
It’s not a long lasting lipstick, so you will have to refresh it during the day or after a couple drinks.

Texture and Finish:
It’s like gloss and lipstick in one. It has light creamy texture and glides on like gloss. Givenchy Rouge Interdit in Sun Shine has small sparkling gold particles and adds shiny shimmering finish to the lips.

Experience:
I have to say this lipstick is one of the genius products out there. It’s just perfect for me! I’m not used to bright colors but I’m drawn to new things so I always wanted to start suing a red lipstick. But never could wear one without feeling that it just looks too bright. Givenchy Rouge Interdit in Sun Shine, thanks to its texture, shade and sparkle, leaves on your lips understated yet vibrant juicy red color. So it was perfect for me as my first red lipstick! The Sun Shine color lights up your skin and makes lips look plump and sparkling. You can also play with intensity. Want a glossy transparent look, apply just one layer. Want more intensity and pop, pile on two or three layers.
In addition, Givenchy Rouge Interdit has great emollient and moisturizing formula, so it doesn’t dry my lips.

Bottom Line:
Everybody should try Givenchy Rouge Interdit! I for sure will be buying it again in either the same shade or a new one!

Beauty Review: Guerlain Kiss Kiss Maxi Shine Lipstick

Packaging:
Guerlain’s packaging is always beautiful. And Kiss Kiss Maxi Shine lipstick is not an exception. It comes is a glamorous golden lipstick case which is simply a pleasure to hold in your hands.

Shade:
I am using 2 shades:
Pastel Shine (#660)- baby pink with light blue shimmering particles
Chocolate Shine (#643)- plum brown with white shimmer

Kiss Kiss Pastel Shine

Experience:
I am prone to dry chapped lips. That is why when I am looking for a perfect lipstick I don’t only look for the right color but also for the right texture. I want it not to dry my lips. And in my experience so many lipsticks do feel drying and make lips flake. I also like not to feel the lipstick on my lips at all. It shouldn’t be sticky or have a very intensive smell. In my opinion, moisturizing lipstick with SPF protection is perfect!
Kiss Kiss Maxi Shine lives up to all of my expectations and is perfect for me even though it doesn’t have that SPF protection. I have been using 2 colors for quite a while already and I will be buying Maxi Shine again.

Scent:
Very light with violet accord.

Stay-on Power:
It does last long! But don’t expect it to be there after dinner.

Texture and finish:
Kiss Kisss Maxi Shine has light, smooth and creamy texture… I like the fact that with Maxi Shine I hardly feel I am wearing a lipstick. It just feels like balm on your lips… This lipstick doesn’t dry out my lips at all, on the contrary, they feel comfortable and moisturized. I looked briefly at the ingredients and among the first are two powerful emollients Lanolin Oil and Castor Seed oil. Both are used to treat and to soothe dry skin and chapped lips.

With one layer applied, the color looks quite sheer but the good news is - it is buildable. You can increase its intensity by applying several layers.

I chose Pastel Beige (see photo above) for its excellent ability to create an illusion of fuller lips. The effect is great! Of course your lips won’t look twice the size but they will definitely look bigger and more luscious. I love Pastel Beige for its tender pink color and the sparkle. Pastel Beige makes a perfect day time lipstick.

Kiss Kiss Chocolate Shine

More of an evening-out variant is Kiss Kiss Chocolate Shine. However, volumizing effect seems less prominent with this one. That’s due to a dark shade. Otherwise, the color looks rich, deep and beautiful!

Shimmer:
Maxi Shine has beautiful shimmer but I know there are people who are not so fond of shimmer. (I, on the contrary, love it!) In my opinion, Maxi Shine is not too shimmery. The particles are really tiny and they don’t stand out. They just create this sparkling jewel effect. Love it!

Flash here makes the shimmer particles stand out. But in real life it doesn't look so shimmery

Beauty Fact: Lipstick Theory

Did you know that lipstick sales are linked to the state of the economy? But not in the way you might think!!

This is called Lipstick Theory. The first to suggest the relation between beauty products sales and the state of the economy was the former head of Estee Lauder – Leonard Lauder. If you expect lipstick sales go down during the hard times, you are wrong. On the contrary, they go up! And “the thinking behind the theory is that consumers turn to inexpensive luxury goods such as lipstick to console themselves” when the higher priced pleasures are out of their reach (www.cosmeticsdesign-europe.com).

Another surprising statistical fact has been recently revealed by Kline, a consulting & market research company. "Our data shows that for every 1% increase in the unemployment rate, women buy $25 million more lipstick during the year." (see this article)
Kline analyzed 50 years of lipstick sales and confirmed that the Lipstick Theory is real.
