Beauty Buzz: New Makeup This Spring

What’s new in makeup this spring?
Freeze launched a mineral makeup collection with anti-aging ingredients. They call it “Advanced Age-less Mineral Makeup”. The makeup has SPF 18 and promises to pamper, hydrate and protect your skin.
Here is what Freeze24-7 & Glow Basics Kit Includes:
• 2 Age-less Mineral Foundations SPF 18
• 1 Bronze-to-Glow
• 1 Cheeky Highlighter
• Total Face Brush
• Fix-It Brush
• Freeze & Glow Basics Instruction Guide

You think you’ve seen it all… Not yet! Check out Tintalize Concealer for your feet. It offers 7 shades to match the skin of your feet and promises that the coverage is long-lasting, waterproof and won’t rub off.

Dolce and Gabbana launched a makeup line at the end of January… So it doesn’t really count as spring news, but it was news for me and the collection is only now making it to the stores in Europe, so I decided to include it as well!

D&G collection includes products for
Face: Powder Foundation, Blush, Bronzing Powder
Lips: Precision Lipliner, Matte Lipstick, Shine Lipstick, Lipgloss
Eyes: Eye Shadow Quad Palette, Eye Shadow Duo Palette, Mascara, Eyeliner
Nails: Nail Lacquer

Check out their website – the presentation and photos are gorgeous!!!

If wearing a fragrance is not enough for you, get scented nails from Revlon! They have just came out with a scented nail polish Frutful Temptations. Each of 8 fruit shades on offer has a matching fruit scent that appears when the enamel is dry.

Beauty Review: Guerlain's Exotic Paradise Palette

Last week I bought Guerlain’s Exotic Paradise eye shadow palette from spring 2009 collection. I have been trying it out this week and I am so happy to say I like it!

Colors:
I bought this palette for the unusual selection of colors. I got so tired of browns or grays or pinks and wanted something different! The colors are great, they look good on my skin and go well with my green eye color. When I swatched these shadows at the counter I was worried that it's impossible to build up their intensity. But now I’m actually glad they are not very buildable. The intensity is just right and I feel that otherwise colors could look over the top and even vulgar. However I still would like it to have a bit more pigment!

Stay-on Power:
Maybe I haven't tested the stay-on power to the full yet. I wore these eye shadows only twice when I went out and when I come home I most often immediately take off my makeup. But I can say that colors stay nice and fresh for at least 3-4 hours!

Texture:
It's silky and has some shimmer but not too much. It applies smoothly and blends into skin very nicely.

Experience:
This palette comes with a little booklet that provides recommendations and tips on how to achieve three looks. Oliver Echaudemaison recommends to choose 2 complimentary colors for a subtle look: Highlighter + Velvet or Deign + Contour. To achieve a bolder look, choose the 2 contrasting tones arranged vertically: Highlighter + Design, Velvet + Contour. And for a sophisticated look Oliver Echaudemaison recommends to use all 4 colors.

Following some diagrams from this booklet I have done two simple looks based on these recommendations but with some slight adjustments.
Look 1: Highlighter + Velvet
In addition i applied just a touch of Contour along the upper outer corner of the eye and traced Highlighter along the lower lashline.

Look 2: Highlighter + Design
I adjusted this look by tracing Contour along the lower lash ine.

Bottom Line:
Overall, I like this palette but I would still want to have more control over pigment intensity of the shadow so am not sure my next eye shadow will be from Guerlain.

Beauty Buy: Exotic Paradise Eye Shadow Palette from Guerlain's Spring Collection

I made up my mind and yesterday got this gorgeous Exotic Paradise spring palette from Guerlain. I'm in paradise now :-)

Isn't packaging beautiful? I also like the miniature suede case that keeps palette protected from scratching. (I wonder how quickly I will missplace it)

What I liked most about the palette is the unsusual selection and combination of colors. Truly exotic shades!

When I swatched the shadows at the counter, I was a bit disappointed by how sheer colors looked on the skin. It's impossible to build up intensity. Despite this I still love this palette! And I think the shades will look nice on the eyelids. I'll post photos when I try it out.

Beauty Buzz: Shiseido Makeup Collection Spring 2009

Shiseido brings lips into spotlight with their spring collection 'Perfect Rouge'.

Choose between the 2 looks:

Luxurious

Innocent and Sweet

The centerpiece of this collection is Shiseido Perfect Rouge Lipstick available in a variety of new unique shades.

To achieve the perfectly painted lips Dick Page, creator of this spring collection, developed the NEW Shiseido Makeup Smoothing Lip Pencil available in 7 complementing shades.

Your next step to creating the look will be applying shimmery Shiseido Hydro-Powder Eyeshadow over your eyelid (the model is wearing Whitelights in Luxurious look and Goldlights in Innocent and Sweet) and line your eyes with Accentuating Cream Eyeliner (in black).
Add the finishing touch and maximize your lashes with Shiseido Lasting Lift Mascara!

I’m excited about this collection. I’ve never owned a Shiseido lipstick so I am curious. When I see/swatch Perfect Rouge I can decide if I like any of the shades. Will try to go for something more bold and unusual this time. I tend to stick to safe colors. I’m also considering the Hydro-Powder Eyeshadow in Whitelights or Goldlights.

Beauty Buzz: Givenchy Makeup Collection Spring 2009

Givenchy’s spring makeup collection was inspired by Indian beauty and bright colors of Bollywood, in particular. First of all, I love the packaging! Indian bindies décor ads special touch of exotic Indian glamour!

Sari Glow Iridescent Blush (Limited edition) for a luminous complexion
  • Maharani Orange (luminous golden peach)
  • Maharani Pink (luminous rosy pink)

Prismissime Visage Face Powder (Limited edition) available in Maharani Pinks and Maharani Apricots. 9 pearly shades in each compact can be used on eyes and face.

Magic Kajal Eye Pencil in very intense carbon black shade was inspired by the kajal used by Indian women. It should be applied in the inner rim of the eye.

Precious Sari Glittering Eyeshadow (Limited edition) comes in a glittering gel formula and is available in Maharani Silver and Maharani Gold. It’s inspired by the shimmering effect of a mirrored sari.

Rouge Interdit Satin Lipstick (Limited edition) in Maharani Rose (deep vivid rose) and Maharani Henna (warm brick red)

Vernis Please! (limited edition) in Maharani Pink and Maharani Tangerine

Bottom line: Givenchy’s spring collection is exotic, glamorous, seductive and desirable! Now I have my second favorite next to Guerlain Spring 2009 Collection. I like the whole collection and the Indian charm of it. But I have an eye on Precious Sari Glittering Eyeshadow, in particular, as I just love everything shimmering – especially gold! ;-) Not a fan of gel formulas though...but Givenchy promises it is non-sticky and non-oily.
